What is this???
I aquired this when I recently bought my mill. It was lying on the floor and I was told I could have or it would go to scrap. Not being a person who likes to see old machinery thrown out, I decided to take and at least try to find out what it is and maybe what sort of machine it may have been used on.

It looks very similar to the vice on a power hacksaw.

Looks like the vice from a chisel morticer. The X slide is usually rack and pinion driven for fast movement.

Toolman, it sure would crack 'em.
If it was a chisel morticer, it must have been a big one - did they make them that big?

Sure did, the one they had at tafe was about that big. A Waldon IIRC.
