Default Trend Airshield Pro respirator - Cheaper from UK

    Hi all,

I have just received a Trend Airshield Pro from the UK with extra filters. I bought it from Axminster and it cost 233 GBP or 421 AUD including express delivery to my home. Service was great and the respirator is well designed and great to use.

    That is a realistic price.
Is the charger a plug pack, or does it have a lead you can change the plug on?
Doesn't really matter - you can buy a travel adaptor from Myers for less than $20

I have a travel adapter and the UK model is the same voltage. I thought that the price was realistic too, particlarly for the pro model. It's helped a little at the moment by the strong exchange rate for the Aussie dollar.

I understand that Carbatec sell this ( under a different name) for over $800. I originally was looking at a triton respirator but the one I was following went for over $300 on Ebay.

Carbatec have their version 'on special' this week. $650 (?) is still too expensive.
Looks like I will have to buy from the UK.

I like the unit but I wouldn't have thought it was worth that much. Also, Axminster were doing a special deal with a free spare filter pack. These are $59 extra at Carbatec.

The good news is the Axminster price is also under the Duty/GST threshold so there is no extra costs when it comes into the country.

Thanks Bob. Part of the issue is lower volumes in Australia but I think it is principally that Australian distributors try to take advantage of the fact that Aussies are generally very accepting and trusting people. Plus there are many who still do not trust the internet, or may worry about warranties etc.

I have also bought a new audio visual amplifer, this time from Singapore at well below half price, landed in Australia! The shop sells a large quanity of gear to Australians at prices I am sure is less than what the Australian distributors charge Aussie retailers.

If anyone wants the particular details of this shop please PM me.
