two atomizers that were ordered by one of my loyal customers, they were extremely happy to receive them.
its a shame that work gets in the way of shed time.

well its been a while but i have finally had a chance to make a couple more atomizers. i have had a play with different designs but this one seems to look the best. there has also been a redesign of the mandrel and it is working very well. i have managed to reduce the amount of flex and bu doing this there is almost no tool chatter to sand out.
thanks for looking

Very nice work guys not wanting to sound like an idiot and having never made a attomiser I would like to know is there a special mandrel that is used to make these ? if so could you tell me where they come from I would like to get one if there is such a thing.
Once again they are very nice

Just found this thread. Very imperssed - much nicer looking than the original designs.
I'd be interested in seeing your latest mandrel design too

those are some special blanks there, they look larger than normal size, What size do you need for a PA

Betty ! normally the standard 3/4 " blanks will do for standard perfume atomisers ,I suspect these "specials " are from bruce on the sunshine coast ,he does a larger size blank for such things as bottle stoppers and pepper grinders ,maybe knife handles as well as other things , may be his standard large blanks.which I think are 1 1/2 " square are what these are made from . Cheers ~ John

John is spot on with that, the blanks come from bruce at wood n workshop, they are aprox 38mm square and 300mm long. this is enough to make 3 atomizers with a little bit left over which is normally enough to make a pendant necklace.
ill put us a photo of the latest mandrel when im in the shed next.
thanks for every ones kind words,

Once again Very nice work I am also wondering what sort of tools you use for turning the atomisers ?
Eg; Skews or gouges ?
Cheers Ian

I was just wondering where you get the atomizer inserts from, they look larger than the ones I've seen.

As far as I know the atomisers only come in one size. I have them in chrome or gold.

for the majority of time i use a 3/4 inch spindle gouge, a 1/2 inch works fine too its juts my preference to use the larger of the 2 gouges. For the finishing cuts i use a skew laying flat using very light pressure or there is tool chatter that needs sanding out. my skew is ground with a small radius on the point; this makes it easier to follow the curves on the atomizers
i have only ever seen the one size atomizer kit, to make these i use all parts excluding the top and bottom button. the brass tube has been shortened a little bit to allow for the closed end on the lid and to keep it looking in proportion with the base.
