Amboyna Cambridge
Hi guys!
Havent had much time to get into the shed for a few weeks, but I've dragged myself out there long enough to give one of the new Cambridge kits a go. They've been sitting on the kitchen table for about 2 weeks, finally finished the first one on sunday.
Finished with nitrocellulose sanding sealer under the rustin's, no dramas with the sealer, best of all no CA fumes .
Enjoy...

I don't know much about art, but I know what I like. And I like that pen. Beautiful finish with the Rustins. Nice timber and I like that kit. Not familiar with it and will look it up later today. Parts of it look like a dressy Churchill. Nice job! What's the timber?
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Beautiful again Dave, I guess the timber is Amboyna Burl? where did you get that nitrocelluose sealer? That Rustin's sure finishes beautifully for you! Amos

Stirlo, was thinking about what you said, I think that with a Gemstone or M3 blank it indeed would make a good go of matching the emperor or imperial for looks, the main difference would be the top and bottom fittings are all Rhodium or rhodium /gold in the other pens, Amos

Cisco & Amos,
Yes, the timber's Amboyna burl - missed that last night (it's been one of those weeks ).
Amos, the nitro sealer is from Haymes paints. Only comes in 4litre tins, unfortunately, but it's worth getting hold of. Froggie was planning on selling smal tins of the stuff until he found out that it couldnt be posted due to it's highly volatile nature. Some weak excuse from aus post about flaming mopeds...Coffee, chocolate, women. Some things are better rich.

Verrry impressive. I like the timber paired with the kit. Big beefy pen, something you can get your hand around. Pentastic

Great timber feature, lovely finish.
FWIW, Amboyna is the burl (or veneer) off a Narra tree. ie. the wood/tree is called Narra, the burl is called Amboyna - so there's no need to add "burl" to the end.
