A Baron in Honduran Rosewood
Honduran Rosewood Burl on a TG Baron.
Finished with 4 coats of Zinsser's Sanding Sealer, followed by 10 coats of CA (5 at a time, no BLO). Left to gas off for a day or 2, then buffed on my Beall and finished off with some Ren wax.
Just for your interest: the blank (1" X 1" X 5") cost $13.22 USD + mailing etc. That works out to about $380.00/bd. ft. I could only afford 5 blanks at that price! It feels really great to sell a pen,
It feels even greater to give one to a friend!

Lovely color and swirls in that one Mack price seems a little steep though but sometimes price is not the only factor in what we do ,and there are plenty of much dearer blanks out there for sure. Your attention to detail shows in this one cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Very nice pen. I love the figuring in that piece. And what an amazing photograph!
I like Honduran rosewood as well. Here's a hint - google Honduran rosewood burl and you will find places that sell turning squares of this timber. Look at the sizes carefully and pick one that will yield you 6 or 8 pen blanks on the bandsaw. By doing this you can usually get the cost down to around $6 or $7 a blank. It's worked for me.When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Beautifully done and presented. !!
Honduran Rosewood always excites interest. I guess it's partly due to the fact that it is certainly beautiful timber and also it is one of the world's fabled timbers.
