I am not a big fan of closed end pens ,but that one could make me rethink one big advantage I can see is you could make the body a little longer for bigger hands cheers ~ John

When I have done wooden closed end pens, I have used my own blanks and I usually cut them long, so I can make the pens longer.
This is the maximum length I could get out of that store-bought blank, I would have liked to make it about 10-15mm longer than it is, a bit left over to make a custom finial would also be nice .
Almost need to buy 2 blanks to make one pen, but then the cap and pen barrel might not match perfectly.
I guess the answer to it all is to cast your own blanks , but I dont have time for that.Brad.

Scored myself a new lens yesterday, A Nikkor AF35 f1.8G.
Just playing around with it, checking out what it can do. I took some photos of this pen to compare them to the old photos taken with the Nikkor AF55 f2.8D .
Rather than start a new thread I am just tacking these new photos onto this thread.

Thanks Tony. Yes, this lens seems to render the colours better than my older macro lens, the only downside with it is I have to be much closer to the pen with the camera, means a bit of fiddling around with my light box to get it all right.
You'll have fun with your new camera, takes some fine tuning of your technique and lighting set-up to get the results, but its all worth it I think.
Thanks Ian.Brad.
