Oh ... no hole in the end of this one either.
The new chuck of yours has it got a screw in the end of the Morse taper ? If so you unscrew this to to screw in the draw bar.
I have a couple chucks like this.

I don't know Mark ... I will look and see.

My Collet Chuck and my Live Center both have 3/8" threaded holes.

I don't know which direction the key flew but it was the drill bit that left a nice hole in my arm.

I hauled the drill chuck to the Woodcraft store and they had a key that fit it so I got my parabolic drill bit out.

He popped the MT2 J33 Drill Chuck Shank out of it so I can go and see if I can find a new shank that has the provisions for a draw bolt in the end.

Well the pneumonia has been kicking my butt but I couldn't stop looking at that wonderful piece of Red Flame Box Elder Burl and needed to try and save it ...

I found as many pieces as I could and glued them back together and then used liberal amounts of sawdust and CA ... the damaged areas look like spalting lines. Most of it will be hidden by the reel seat skeleton.

And to prove I'm a glutton for punishment I turned a piece of Spalted Aspen Burl ... I didn't realize it was spalted because the spalting was not dark but very light, the same color as the timber. It turned dark with CA.

This was so soft that it broke in two different places as I was turning it ... the first was right in the middle of the blank as I was turning and I glued it back together.

The second was when I decided to pull the bushes Fred made me out and look at the inside and it separated at the end of the bush. CA'd and flooded the hole and everything went fine from there.

Thanks Nick ... paid the price though ... the wife found me in the garage and took me to the doc's and I get to take more meds and with orders from her ... no lathe time.

I said ... "Doc, if I don't listen to the wife why in the world would I listen to you?"

She turned to the wife and said ... "Is he always this difficult?"

Wife said nothing but shook her head and rolled her eyes ...

without sounding sexist ... they are women. I should offer her a new saddle blanket too!
and what about patient confidentiality ?
Well ... I told the receptionist to NOT call me with results. Call the wife, I don't care ... she'll make sure I know.
