Default European Twist in Red Oak Burl

A friend of mine saw the Sierra I did in red oak burl, and wanted me to do one of these for her...been a long time since I did one, had to look a good while to find the bushings, found them and ended up with this...

I had forgotten how good these feel to use, I think I will make one up for a carry/show off pen.

The notch at these kits need really will test the patience of a human! Yours look to be spot on from the photo!

Pretty nice timber too! Curious though....how many coats for the finish?

8 to 10 dips in lacquer.
Let the first few dips dry for a day, this stuff was quite dry and porous, drank up the first dip in minutes.
Might try and impregnate a blank with lacquer under pressure and see it that helps.

Beautiful work Ed and a nice looking blank. The European can be a real pain to turn to get the ring sitting perfectly. Takes me ages.
