Fishing in the basement
G'day Y'all,
Sorry I have not been around lately, but Mother Nature decided that not only our grass needed watering, but my basement as well. Last weekend, we got over 7 inches of rain overnight, and it was more than the ground would take, so the excess ended up in our basement.
Now that everything is taken care of, and we didn't lose anything (other than sleep and sore muscles) it is all good. Our carpet is now sparkling clean, I got to spend a lot of time with my wife, and our yard is well watered.
All I have to do now is catch up on the posts.
Cheers,
Rick

Oh gee, that is a lot of water ... and in a basement too!! I have had the shed flood in a downpour - at least I could sweep it out the door (then fix the problem to stop it coming in).
Glad things are 'back on an even keel' - pun intended!!!

Rain? What's that? Send some to South East Arizona next time you get some. Is that what causes those little spots sometime on the windshield after the daily dust storms? Glad you're up & runnin.

Have been wondering where you got to, glad to hear that all is fine and you didn't lose anything in the downpour.
Now you can catch up on your sleep, but the best remedy for sore muscles is to get back down to the basement and start pumping some pens out.Cheers

I gotta tell everyone about Rick and Gina,
In the middle of the flood ( unknown to me) I ordered from them, it seems Gina was more worried about my pen blanks than the flooding. I assured her my blanks were not that important and could wait but she didn't want to hear it. I can't say enough about the customer service and ethics of Rick and Gina I'm glad all went well and hope the basement is nice and dry. Thanx to both of them. ~ Joe Pozzi~ Joe Pozzi

Hi Joe,
You are making me blush .
As for the rain and my relatively minor flooding, I learned a long time ago that you have to take the bad with the good, and try to keep a positive attitude. While the rain was an inconvenience for me, it was a disaster for others. For the local farmers, it was a blessing.
Cheers,
Rick

G'day Rodent,
Ya know, that is an interesting question. Here in the U.S., it seems to be a geographical thing. When I lived in Arizona and California, we didn't have basements. Here in the mid-west, everybody has them.
For one, we are located in Tornado Alley and a basement sure does come in handy when they come to visit. A lot of folks around here use them for storage. Ours if finished, carpeted, laundry room, family room, office, and small bathroom. It is also our workshop.
Another way to look at it is there is more living space with out taking up more acreage.
Cheers,
Rick
