Frankencase
I made the drawers for this a long time ago and forgot what I was going to do with them. Found the drawers on the weekend so threw the rest of this together out of bits n pieces in the shed. I'm not overly happy with it but it will do for now. Will probably make another with a bit more care down the track. Not happy with the ply, the lid was too much of a contrast for me and I cracked the glass lid drilling the screw holes. This was my first attempt at flocking too
It will do for now though. So there it is... go for it with the comments and don't be gentle

The intended use is to sit on my desk at work to create the "what are they" factor
As I'm the boss in my area and there's only two other people in there with me security isn't an issue. It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Hey Corbs,
Nice job, I have a similar design in mind and should have one built in about 2012 or there abouts,

hey corbs great prototype
you always have to have a prototype to work out any flaws in design, cracked glass - that would be a flaw
overall basic design is good though great job
i really like the draw pulls and it looks like you did a pretty good job on the flocking as well, never tried flocking was it hard???
i was thinking up something similar, however my idea was going to be polar fleece lining to add a bit of cushion

Bugger ! for some reason I expected to see a coffin shaped pen case lol, looks good to me though ,somehow I prefer utilitarian type goodies ,protects the contents and no need to treat it with 'kid gloves" never judge a book by it's cover hehe, when you pull a pen out of that it will just look so much better cheers ~John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

I could have started this one in 2008 so your timeline will be similar to mine
The drawer pulls were chosen by SWMBO from the big B. The flocking was easier than I was expecting and I'm reasonably happy with the result but it is fairly thin too. It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Looks good to me
The only thing I would suggest is having side panels on the box so when you pull out a draw you are not left with a big cavity.
My box is due in about 30 yearsCheers Rum Pig
