Talking Graduation pens for class of 2008

Had to knock out a dozen fountain pens for a local school (in a hurry of course).
Brett at Addictive came good with a quick delivery of El Grande kits.
I had some beaut lace/flame sheoak sitting on the shelves, just crying out to be used....
Anyway - got the kits on Friday, hobbled around the workshop with a buggered back & managed to deliver them today. Finish was nice, quick EEE and Shellawax Glow (thanks Neil!)
Took a few pics on the way - so here they are.
Think I should make some for the gallery now.......
Now - if only I could find that extra day in the week........

It look like you are using an Alan Lacer curved skew…how do you like it?
Once you get the hang of it, it is a real versatile tool….

    Thanks Guys
That Sheoak worked like a beauty!
Had one spare pen for the Gallery - and someone came in & bought it before I even got it on the shelves!
Just gotta go out & make some more.
Ed - the Skew is a good Aussie tool from P&N. The slight curve in the grind is just something I have done for quite a while - & like using.

Bad pun, but you are ahead of the curve, so to speak...Lacer had a few curved skews on the market, and a few DVDs out on how to use them...I have a pair of home made ones myself, HHS ground to my personal like, a little more curve than normal...once you master that skew, you can make almost any cut you choose.
I find I am using that one tool more than all my others combined.

Have 2 DVR's and one 1624. I find the DVR's magic machines to teach on, and the Nova lathes are within reach of the hobby turner should they wish to continue with the craft.
Artisans Retreat workshops are "fun" rather than "trade" workshops - getting people hooked on woodchips so to speak!
Nothing better than the beaming face of a newbie who takes home a bowl on their first day of turning!
