Kudos for a company
Not sure if we are allowed to do this or not but I'm sure an administrator will delete the thread if we aren't.
This is just a rap for a company which is Pen Kits & Wood Turning Australia | Timberbits I am becoming increasingly jaded with the amount of (or lack of) customer service in this country as I have been to a hell of a lot of countries and have found us to be the worst at it so it makes me happy when something like this happens.
Any of you that have read my introduction post would know that I am new to this, yesterday I decided to get started by buying some kits and bushings etc from the aforementioned company online. At about 12:20 today (about 12 hours after my purchase) the proprieter of this company rang me to ask how I found them, if I found their prices competitive, if their website was easy to navigate and if I had any problems at all with the process. He also told me that he is a penturner himself and I could call him any time for advice if I would like some.
It may not seem like this guy went to a lot of trouble however it is definitely a lot more trouble than a lot of other businesses go to these days. It is little things like this that keep people coming back so well done to you timberbits I know where I will do most of my penturning shopping in the future.

Yep, David is great to deal with. We're a lucky bunch, as most of the woodturning stores around are great to deal with. In fact there is only one store that I won't deal with in Australia, but that's a story for another day.
I also highly recommend Gary Pye Woodturning and Carrolls Woodcraft Supplies. Great people, always helpful.

I feel I have to add my two bobs worth to this ! I have dealt with david also and have found him great to deal with Carrols have also been very good and living in Newcastle I have delt with mark at 043turning and have been very happy with him also. I know for a fact he is in the process of moving and due to this reason he is low on many things but the shop will be staying in Newcastle and moving to new premises and things will be back to normal soon.
Cheers ian

I decided a few weeks ago to have a go at pen turning and have found the same thing. David at timberbits has been extremely prompt with deliveries and has phoned for feed back and to offer advice. Jim Carroll was also very helpfull at the Adelaide wood show.
How fortunate for those of us in more remote regions to get service like this and to have access to this forum.
Using the search engine has been of great assistance, so thanks for all those who take time to offer their advice and experience, it has addressed virtually every query or issue that I have had since starting to turn pens. cheers seriola
