Oh Bugger! (am I allowed to say that? ) I was going to do that when it was my turn .... thought I'd finally sovled what my theme would have been .... back to the drawing board! ,, the theme is half the fun!

Toni, I bought rolls of copper shim from craft type suppliers, when I go back to work I'll look in my order book and give you a name.

Skew - I didn't seem to have any black come off the metal, maybe the slide on floppy discs isn't aluminium (wot would I know )

the brown stuff on floppies is some sort of ferric oxide deposition isn't it? That's why they are magnetic media rather than light which are cd's.

I'm pretty sure J means the metal slides that protect the read window, not the media itself, Tas. You're right about the ferric oxide, it's just layered onto a mylar disc. I think it'd be too thin to be any real use in lamination, you may as well use Glad-Wrap.

From memory, they're a stainless steel. But they could be aluminium, on some at least... it has been a loooong time since I pulled one apart. (Although I still have several thousand stowed away in storage drawers, including quite a few old 5 1/4"ers and even older 8"ers! )
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

the metal shutter on floppy disks is almost certainly always aluminium.

brass is a great thing to use too.

    cheers
Any thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
    Most powertools have sharp teeth.
    People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.
