Pen kit questions.
I was wondering where you guys get your pen kits from? I recently turned a click slimline and as I found it easy I am now wanting to turn some more. I found that I could get all the parts minus the click mechanism from timber bits so I was wondering where I could get the mechanism? or should I contact timber bits and see if that they can order in the bit that I am looking for? Cheers WC

You can find click pens at GPW woodworking also there are other places like Carrols woodturning, Pops Shed and 043Turning. You will find they all have something to offer it really does depend what you really want. There is more to it than just buying a click mechanism because even the tubes are bigger in a click pen than your usual 7mm slimline. I think alot of clicks are about 8mm tubes.
Cheers

Thanks for your help Ian, I have found the Kit that I want. It is a Gold Click Pen. Now I just need to contact GPW woodwork and see if they do any discounts on multiple orders of items. Cheers WC

Just a few les? :P
Just watch out on the plating with the really cheap slimlines or pretty much any cheap pen kit as it won't last very long. This can be as little as weeks if it is used everyday. It is more prevelent on the gold plated ones.
Also be careful as this pen turning thing can be infectious and soon become an obsession.

Timberbits will be hard to beat price wise. As stated, be aware that the plating on the cheap slimlines and related pens will wear off with use. When you are paying under $2 for a kit, it is not solid gold. Depending on where you live, it is often far cheaper to go to the store and buy them rather than pay the postage unless you are buying a lot.
