First pen post
Hello everyone. I have been a member lurking around the forum for a while since being bitten by the PEN ADDICTION. I have enjoyed looking at the pens and different pen kits that everyone produces and the photos they have shared.
I have finally worked out how to photograph and upload to the site and so following are some of my efforts.
From B to T in JR Victor Kits (Timberbits) Swamp Yate Burl, Amboyna Burl and Spotted Jarrah
From L to R in Sierra Kits (Timberbits) Yellow Box, Amboyna Burl,Red Mallee Burl, Afzelia Burl, Brown Mallee Burl and Huon Pine

Hope you enjoy them
Cheers Gerry

Very nice selection indeed, the JR does make a smart pen ,and you have made those very smart indeed, never heard of a couple of those woods either ,so you must really be into this addiction and enjoying the "hunt" for that perfect match of kit and "covering "hehe. Well done ,and the photography is it seems, sometimes harder than making the pens ,as most of us who are struggling with this aspect know the real life is always much better than the pics ,so full marks with these offerings cheers ~John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Hi Gerry,
Very successful presentation of first class pens, you have used a number of beautiful timbers that show to perfection. Unlike so many first person entries your shape, fit, display belies your intro when you said lurking gave you the desire to do something. The word smitten is a great understatement it is a disease that we all happily share.
You must have computer savvy since I clearly remember how difficult it was for me to learn a little about pixels, how to present on the site etc.
Thank you for sharing and if I read correctly you dont exactly live in close to cities so you have obviously put your trust in one of our member suppliers who has served you well.
More and often I have come to appreciate the unselfish way Brett of Addictive and David of Timberbits who both started as new members and found a vocation in pens help people like yourself to get up and in your case flying high.
Around the world there are other forums if you Google as we all do that also share by example what they indeed have to offer providing an oportunity to see indeed how compact world communication is.
Enjoy the company of all of us as you progress. Let us know of your geographic area and timber resources out your way, we can assist with remote purchases etc.
Kind regards Peter.

Sweet looking across the board Gerry...
I have to say that this forum is indeed peopled by very generous folks, who are quite free with their advice, both complimentary and instructive...and if you are lucky enough to buy or trade for some blanks with them, they usually go way above and beyond what one expects.

Very nice work and a great mix of timbers. They look really good and the photography shows off the pens nicely. Good work.
Reality is no background music.

First pen
Thankyou for your coments, It is a forum like this that you can get great feedback and the chance to learn more.
To answer a couple of questions Rum Pig the finish on Sierras is CA/BLO x 5 coats.
On the Yate burl and Amboyna Burl is 20 thin coats of CA then Brasso and hut pen polish. The spotted Jarrah is minwax WOP.
The yate burl came from Ravensthorpe care of my dad. The amboyna and Afzelia burl from USA and the rest from David at Timberbits thanks David.
I like all the finishes for different reasons. I look forward to making more pens and sharing ideas.
Cheers Gerry

Hey Gerry,
Great pens, I am getting some of those EB's they are a smart looking pen.
I used to think that Jarrah was a pretty good timber, but for pens it looks pretty ordinary against some of the other timbers available. i have just taken some Peppermint ones to be engraved for the BIL so I will post them tommorrow i hope.
In another post you said that you are going to the Wood Show in Perth on Sat and Sunday, I will be there Sunday, I'll send a PM with my phone number and I'll have a chat.
