My first three pens...
Hi guys,
Here is my first three attempts. The first one was made from oak and the other two from Irish elm that has some lovely markings and knots.
Without the help and advice and some of the great threads on this forum I would never have got started. So thanks all for that.
Cheers,
Chrome

Hi Ash (what a good name for a woodworker!)
These were finished (after sanding to 400) with boiled linseed oil then medium CA. About 4 applications on the oak pen and 4 or 5 on the elm, however also used thin CA to fill the small gaps in the elm burl/knots etc. by dripping it into the gaps with the pen static after getting to the right size. the elm pens then had another couple of CA and BLO applications then spun up to high speed for sanding to 12000. That's it
Cheers,

Ash, they look good, keep one or two to remember the occasion, knots always tend to give a variety of good looks. Welcome along. Amos

Very nice work Steve. You have given them the nice flowing 'Ladies Waist' shape, which looks spiffier than just dead straight. Good fit & finish too. Nice sticks of timber to work with also. Welcome to the addiction.

Well done Steve. That's a very good first effort. The oak and elm are great timbers. Keep at it and keep up the good work
