    Default Sam makes a slimline

Had the pleasure of catching up with one of the masters of pen turning yesterday, the maestro himself, simomatra and was treated to some of his techniques and tips in pen making. I sprang a surprise on him out of the blue and produced a slimline pen kit and an acrylic blank and asked him to turn a pen for LOML. Sam just took it in his stride and merrily got to work to do just that.

As you can see from the pic, it turned out beautiful and LOML just loves it.

Sam was not really pleased with the pen for reasons known only to himself. The picture does not do the pen justice. I am not the best photographer in the world so my apologies for that Sam

Sam made this pen with me breathing down the back of his neck the whole time, two other foruimites, artme and pasho continually distracting him (all in good fun) and with a lathe and tools that he was not familiar with but he still achieved his usual level of excellence.

    This pen will be treasured.
    Reality is no background music.
    Cheers John

Great looking pen. Nice blank and the shape is attractive. Great that you guys can get together and socialise while turning.

He assembled it upside down! (And I wouldn't be surprised if part of his complaint about it is "wasp-waist...")

Wish I'd been there so I could stir him about it in person.
