    Default Spalted ???

Rummaging around today and found this ,not sure what it is or where it came from ,it was nicely spalted and wormy holes , the sort of thing that comes from Neils stash occasionally hehe. Put it on a secret top or retro style pen ,came out nicely cheers ~ John

Very nice and unique John. The timber looks great as does the pen

looking at the timber it's definately Beena tree, or could be ..... from the wassa tree (dificult to tell from this angle ....)

Certainly don't think its from the Eucalyptus Side-a-roadus family

When i was down at Neil's for my(his) bansaw / talk his ear off / cut up my corkwood for me trip he threw a couple of stabilised bonewood sticks at me (i think to get my eye's off his other stuff) looks a LOT like this i rekon. . Haven't got round to turning them yet. Looks great John.

I can only add this was very pale when I started and very soft ,the worm holes were already filled so no need to do that chore hehe. It didn,t take on any color change till after stabilising with thin CA a few times during turning , I suspect it was an escapee from Neils Over abundant stash hehe. cheers ~ John
