Tiger Myrtle Sedona
Here is a pic of my first Sedona.
The finish is ok, up closes it has a couple of ridges.
It looks like they came from the pressure of fitting to the barrell, or am I finding excuses for poor QA when sanding?

How could you not love Tiger Myrtle, a beautiful timber indeed. The finish and transition from the barrel to the fittings seem smooth and the ridges that you talk about are not visible within the photo. It is nice to see an honest appraisal of one's work. The Sedona kit is it a GWP Sedona as the band on the cap are different. It is a nice contrast to the other style of banding.

Just beautiful Mike excellent fit and finish good choice of timber. As for the finish no ripple I can see looks good. We all know our own little thing about each pen we make but others unless told never see them.

Nice pen Mike, fit and finish look fine to me. I am guessing thats one of Gary Pye's Sedona's. On a side note, your blanks went in the mail on Thu.
CorbsIt's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Thanks all for the comments. The ridges are actually on the cap, I will post a pic and see if anyone has had the same experience as the more I think about it the more convinced I am that they are caused by the fitting.
The kit is from Carrolls Woodcraft. (Can't say enough about their service)
Looking forward to the blanks Corbs, thanks.

Excellent work. Tiger Myrtle is one of my favourites.

I reckon it looks pretty good.
When you say ridges, are you talking the area I have circled below?
What finish are you using? If it is CA, my very limited experience has found it likes to crack away if not trimmed/sanded back properly when assembling.
I suspect you may have nailed it with the "or am I finding excuses for poor QA when sanding" commentToasty

Mike nice looking pen and blank, if the ridges(which I still cannot see) are from CA then an extra sanding with wet micromesh will usually remove them. Amos

Very nice Mike.
I wouldn't be too hard on yourself.
Excellent fit and finish from where I'm sitting!
Great match of plating with the timber.

Great looking pen Mike. We all make pens and see little imperfections that unless pointed out are not obvious. I hope my firts turns out as good.
