    Default Today's haul

Had the day off today, so I went to the shop and played a bit. AND I get to do it again
    tomorrow. WOOHOO!!

I played around with the cherry burl a bit, and some box elder .. cocobolo .. made a
few candle holders in cherry and kingwod .. a couple pieces of myrtle I started the
other day. Kinda messed them up, but they were all cracked and split anyway, so I
didn't mind so much. It gave me practice..

Nice work. I like the figure on the box elder burl pen. I also like the miniature oil lamp holders as well. Forstner bit in the lathe? Then chuck it from the inside? It's nice to have a day to burn in the shed, isn't it?
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

It's wonderful! I don't get to do it often.

Yeah, chucked the forstner bit now that I don't have all that wobble.
So I turned littleleftover bits that were too small for pens..

Of course, they flew off the chuck a few times, too . so they're not good. The top
of the kingwood is all full of catches. (yeah.. tried the skew again..)

I'ma gonna do it all again tomorrow..

Well done NL looks like you had a fine time
I gather the fix is still running true! Bewdy

And I'm jealous, been crook with the flu for a week and haven't been game to grab a chisel to anything. Did get in the shed today for a bit of a tidy up, ie moved stuff from one spot to another.

Did find a piece of what looks like birds eye brush box (in a stack of floorboard offcuts from a mates place).
Next weekend I intend to blank it and do at least one pen. Shall display then.

A good days work is an understatement. All look very nice, well done. Uninterrupted days in the workshop where things go right are rare enough that we really appreciate when we do get them.

Yeah.. I got to do some more today, too.
I went back to the candle holder thing and made a few more of those.
    And I finally tried snakeskin.

That stuff gets HOT!! I was sanding it and couldn't believe how much heat it
retains. Must be a high oil content.

DIdn't use anything for a finish. Should I?

    NL88,
That is a great haul indeed! Beautiful collection. What wood is the baron2? If I may ask, where do you get your candles from?
