Best tool ever
My husband gave me a mandrel saver for Christmas, and I reckon it is the best thing ever. I was having a problem with uneven pens, but it has saved my bacon.
Cheers,
Shirley

When I used a mandrel I loved my mandrel saver. I prefered turning 1 part at a time to limit flex and this helped me do that w/out having to buy a more expensive adjustable mandrel.

A hollow live centre, or a live centre with the tip removed.
The pen mandrel runs inside the tail centre, rather than being pressed against by the tip of a tail centre (which can bow the mandrel, if too much pressure is applied).
Cheers,
Andrew
