Nice set of pens... I have a secret pen at the moment too
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

all very very nice mick .
i turned that piece of buckeye ,and very soft stuff ,i worked out to late that you need to start with a much finer sandpaper grit than normal .( rekon i just was'nt thinking to well that day cos i should of known )
fitted it up to a gentlemans pen and then noticed a sanding mark quite deep too .
hence i never took any pics or made it public until now that i stuffed up .
anyway i did learn from it .

Mik, that is a mouth watering set of pens, I know what you mean re BuckEye burl-great stuff, the other Burls have beautiful character of their own. Huon can be eyecatching or just plain Huon-sometimes you give it a try and it come out very showy, other times just plain, that is where having spare brass tubes may help, you can try other turnings until you get the look you want. thanks guys
the huon is fairly plain but has just a touch of character and the finish came up great so i thought it should live
texx pm me your address and i will send you another piece of buckeye, can't have someone not completing a buckeye pen, on buckeye i only use 400 sandpaper, i find that is plenty
thanks again for your kind coments
