    Default As 1684.3

AS 1684.3 Residential Timber Framed Construction - Cyclonic Areas probably has what you need, but I don't know if you can get it for free. The best way is to pay or find someone with a on-line subscription. Architects, builders may be able to help, most universities also have online subscriptions, available using student numbers/passwords (If you know any uni students)

    Womble,
in the past the council would tell you what your terrain category was deemed to be (Cat 1, 2, 2.5, 3). Then you would use the appropriate framing manual for design purposes. I don't know about Cairns City Council, but Mareeba Shire will no longer give you this information due to liability implications. An engineer or site classifier will need to be engaged for this. TRADAC manuals are a great source of information for framing timber sizes and tie down requirements, but you should get an engineer for certification of your plans.
