Default Flues of at the base in chimney ?

New it was too good to be true . l revamped my inbuilt wood heater and she fired beautifully .
Afew days later check the flue smoke out side make sure all happy and noticed smoke coming out from under the flue plate thing .
Well the heaters been running great but it turns out the flue isn't even on at the base in the chimney . The smoke goes out at the top of the heater , then floats around in the chimhney until it either finds the flue or seeps out under the plate thing at top of chimney .
Warning - silly question coming !!! Aahh , does that matter ???
You see there is also a bit of flue at the bottom of the chimney on floor behind the heater , don't think l can pop the flue back on without taking the whole heater out first to get the bottom bit and refit it .
    Bugar !
    Cheers.

If it's drawing properly now it'd probably only make minor improvement, if any, by fixing it properly.

However, having said that (and assuming I correctly understand what you mean ) it'd probably be a lot safer to have it in place.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    Thanks Skew
lt seems to flow along no worries , still ajusts up or down and burns accordingly . No smoke coming inside, infact it's actually going better and more reliably than it ever has . Makes me wonder why they even bother with a flue it's running so well .
lt sounds as though you think it should be ok for awhile atleast , l will fix it at some point sooner rather than later , just don't feel like doing it straight away and have allot on .
    Cheers
