I know this is illegal ...
... and I know it's extremely dangerous BUT for my interest is there any reason a generator outputting to a 3 pin PLUG connected to a standard socket in the house wouldn't work or would cause problems ?
A friend of mine asked me (yes, really) and I not stupid enough to do it but do recall seeing this type of thing done back in the 80s during the blackouts of '83 & '84 to 'inject' power into all the house circuits. The main fuse was removed effectively disconnecting the house from the street feed and from memory it seemed to work well (within the 10-15A rating of the house circuit wiring of course). House wiring was a lot 'dumber' back then so this was easy yet still stupidly dangerous if you didn't know what you were doing.
Now, my main question I suppose is would this still work these days with 'active' circuit breakers and especially RCDs ie. if you were to energise one circuit with the 240VAC output from a generator or solar/inverter setup would it feed 'back' through the circuit breakers & RCDs to feed the others of would they throw only allowing power to flow around the circuit you've plugged the device into ?
No probs if no-one wants to answer this fearing the consequences, I just thought I'd ask that's all.
Cheers !
