3kg free Camphor laurel
G'Day All
The first person to name these seven woods correctly in order in this thread, I will post at my cost the 3kg free chunk of wood. Good luck!
Cheers

G'day Bernie - not sure you'd enjoy posting it all the way out here (so I'll refrain from guessing - also I wouldn't get any correct anyway so your safe there!).
Nice Cattleya (that's what it looks like from here anyway).Cheers,
Andy

Yes one of my wife's collection, I make sawdust in the shed and she breeds orchids in her greenhouse next door. We meet occasionally in the fernery between them and have a cup of tea. Gee its good to be getting older and retired.

Number 3 is right, that's the sort of figure in block I'm offering, so can't make it too easy.

Reckon no. 2 is some kind of native 'pine' like Hoop or Bunya; or maybe Norfolk.

Your right is a pine but one of the more obscure ones! Any suggestions how I can make this easier? should I list the names and people match or what? Have bought the parcel pack ready to send. Have pics of the other ones (larger) should I post them?
And if I put up names common or scientific? Lot of questions eh!
Cheers

Yeah bigger pics, preferably showing the grain as well will helps lots.
Some more guesses:
1. Mahogany of some type, or could even be a rosewood perhaps going by color? Hard to tell without seeing grain
2. Radiata Pine Maybe you are tricking us with that "obscure" word
3. Camphor (we got this one already)
4. Eucalypt burl?
5. Mallee burl of some type? How much wood could the woodchuck chuck if the woodchuck could chuck wood?
