    Default Platter

Thought I might try my hand at a platter, not sure of the timber, just oiled and rub over with a rag

Very different, I was expecting a standard run of the mill platter but you've surprised me. The more I look at it the more I like it. Great work

Looks fantastic Hughie Might be better to make it a wall hanging though - wouldn't like to be trying to clean guacamole dip out of the carved bits

Very smart looking platter Hughie, I agree it would make a very nice wall piece.

    Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks for all the positive comments. As I said I dont do very many platters if any at all so its good to get the feed back.
Its all hand carved with a fair bit of sanding especially across the end grain. Luckily the timber is soft and easy to work unlike the Eucalyptus bowl previously.

Phil spoke to the guy who supplied the pieces and yes it Banksia.

Might be better to make it a wall hanging though - wouldn't like to be trying to clean guacamole dip out of the carved bits
Jeez Vern thought I was on a roll there now I gotta go back to the drawing board

WOW! Nice piece and well photographed.

( I was a commercial, advertising, industrial, photographer for 40 years.)
So much timber, so little time.
