Silky Oak, Hollow platter???
This one is from a rather flat piece of Silky Oak 12" x3" Hollowed out and carved with involute curves. Finished with DO, looks fine in the matt, not sure if I will give it another. It will be tricky to buff, as the horns are a bit delicate. Although it would benefit a rub look to it.
The black spot is a knot could have turned it away but wanted to max the diameter, perhaps I should have.

I like the knot. And I like the rest of it too. Also looks good matt. Gloss could detract from the focus on the form.

I like the spot.
Its a space ship being drawn into the black hole vortex at the centre.

With the involute in the middle and the spiral carving out to the edge I'm seeing a Maelstrom (Whirlpool).
Stunning carving, keeping the edges as sharp as you have.Dragonfly
