Vicmarc M30 direct threaded chucks
Woohoo! Vicmarc are now making VM120 chucks with an M30 direct thread (no more inserts required)
As my VM120's were the older ones that weren't nickel plated I contacted Vicmarc to see if I could purchase the new direct threaded bodies and swap the internal components over. Instead I decided to send them up to Vicmarc and have them swapped over at the factory and I think it was money well spent!
Some advantages to the direct thread are a slight increase in the distance between centres when using a chuck (not much of an increase) and mainly there is no insert to loosen!
I've had them slip before when using the chuck key to loosen the chuck, which is why I now use a tommy bar in the insert to remove them, but now this isn't a problem.
Obviously not everyone will see this as a useful feature but I'm happy with the outcome!
N.B. I'm not paid by Vicmarc I just really like their products!
