Cleaning Terracotta pavers
Does anyone know the best way to clean terracotta pavers. They look salty on the outside as well as having a dull look about them.

The salts probably moisture pushing through, Applied Chemicals used to have a pretty good alkaline cleaner that came in crystal form, mix with water and brush on then pressure blast off brings most things up a treat. Especially good for hard water stains in things such as toilet bowls.

This is a really common problem. I'm sure johnc's recipie works, but I just give them a good scrub with a wire brush (a good one that has nice blunt ends so you don't end up scratching your pavers to oblivion) and hose it off. As johnc says, it is moisture surfacing, and bringing a salty mixture with it. BTW, don't just hose, it'll magically dissappear, and when they dry out, magically reappear!

CLR is also good - followed by a good gurni. In these cases, nothing beats high pressure water... Good luck
