Nice work Cagey
The stars are a great touch! Any chance of seeing the jig you used, as I'm a router ignoramous and don't know if it would be an internal or external sort of thing?
Cheers,Andy Mac

Excellent work. Love the top. In fact, love the whole thing. Maybe the dovetails could have been a little larger for the size of the box but thats just a personal opinion. Really great work. Thanks for sharing with us.

Andy Mac, the jig is just bigger star shaped holes (2 sizes) cut into a piece of 10mm thick MDF, which i followed with a guide bush on the router. i will add some pics soon. John, larger Dovetails were considered but standard layouts have been done to death, and i wanted them to be different. i played with 10 different styles on Sketchup before i touched a bit of wood, and this one got the thumbs up, but it did make putting it together difficult
Thanks Kev.

Excellent work Kev - most impressive! I'm tossing up the various dovetail jig options myself at the moment (Leigh vs Gifkins), so interesting to see the success you've had.
I very much like the star features as well. Did you carve them by hand or use some type of jig?

What a beautiful bit of work, Kev - that will last a lifetime, and then some more!
How did you do the dovetail joints ? My jig is only suitable for 12 inch wide boards - any suggestions?
how did you edge join the side timbers to make up each side - biscuits?
kind regards,
Jill

That's a fine piece of work! I love the variable dovetail spacing. You probably have the D4R as I have. What a chip maker! They turned out a treat though and there will be no mistaking the quality over the years.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.
