Unfortunately I can't be in - when I thought in the previous thread this was proceeding, I didn't know it was not going to be till Xmas to kick off. By then, I am going to be so deep in jobs to do in preparation for the new year, I'm not going to have time to contribute. But best wishes to those who are in - sure you will enjoy it.
Will see how I travel in the New Year, but don't hold your breath!"Clear, Ease Springs"

Charity should win
I cannot commit for this year. Anyway, I would have to organise some way to buy my own box back, and that will require some organising.
BUT, why can't there be two more threads started now, in addition, namely Mother's Day Boxes and Father's Day boxes, before the repeated Christmas box?
Lots of people have their hearts in the right place, they merely need a longer lead time to ensure their hearts can speak.
If organisation is wanted, I will put up my hand, not by preference but because I think it is a great effort.
Can we enlarge the scope, to give some liberty between the couple who are "paired" as to what will be constructed?
I will put my hand up to make three next year, if we progress this venture.CJ

There is an expectation that the UBeaut's Box Makers Swap will continue into the future.
Your suggestion of Mother's Day and Father's Day, Christmas 2007 swaps is great and in my view there is every reason why they should proceed. Forum members may wish to make a note in their personal Diary to nominate themselves as participants.
As this is a UBeaut members driven concept, it needs great ideas such as this to prosper, with leaders such as yourself taking the initiative - well done.Tony Ward

What about an Australia Day Box? With a uniquely Australian theme.

Doughboy/Pete,
How many boxes do you think you will be good for, if there is a one per month possibility?CJ

might themed swaps sometimes hinder the creative juice flowing thing?
I reckon the challenge of working with unknown timber and dimensions might be enough to keep it interesting without having to slot it into a theme.
what say you woodies?

I think the theme aspect could be good, as it gives a finite idea range. It allows for a starting point for the design juices to oooooze too
Also, a question on the proceeds from auction, can the charity be the GazAly Boxmakers Benevolent SocietyGreatest Movie Quote Ever: "Its good to be the king!"____________________________
