hardware sources - possible FAQ
First let me say I've been searching the forum for the last few hours looking for an answer to the questions I'm about to ask. I happily admit I'm hopeless at it and I apologise if this is a FAQ. I am also not quite sure if this is the right place for my questions, but it's my best guess.
I am looking for a source of box/cabinet hardware. For the moment I'm specifically after some flush drawer pulls (like those in the woodsmith machinists cabinet) and a gang drawer lock system (or just the lock) like that used in drawersonwheels.com, and a few other bits and pieces.
I assumed that there would be specialist online sources with nice websites or catalogues so I can look at pics or dimensioned drawings of the products, but I have had no luck. There are a few odd things on ebay (again I may be searching the wrong words) and mcjing but I thought there might be something better ?
Any thoughts most appreciated.I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

Argh. Thank you all. I literally spent hours looking on the forum and online yesterday.
I might go to G&C and have a rummage in person.
Mind they are a LOT dearer than ebay...and probably even ues (although that's a differnt market). Elraco are handy for drawer runners and stays and so forth. Some of what I'm looking for is the little jewelry box style stuff, little bits of brass.
I am thinking of getting a couple of these to look at with a view to recessing them:

Hi Damien have you thought of using the Neil Scobie technique of a carved recessed drawer pull featured in issue 69 of the Australian Wood Review or making a carved add on pull from a contrasting timber....gives that personal touch over commercial pulls.....Kerry

I am not familiar with what your taking about but me and carving sounds like a fabulous disaster in the making
I had thought of using a dovetail bit to undercut the drawer fronts to give a purchase, or something along those lines.
The pulls are only one problem I am trying to solve before embarking on this project.
Thank you for the thought.I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

Damian, here is an example of a recessed drawer pull, this was done with an Arbortec and disc sander but can also be achieved with a Dremel or similar rotary tool (currently available at Aldi for $30)...could be worth a try, you never know what you might achieve.

You could also try the Lee Valley website. I have got some stuff, butt hinges and good brass screws from them, and they have very good service and prices. The aussie $ is strong at the moment so you might find something you want there.

I looked at Mc Jings. Apparently they have a lot of stuff not on the website. Either way I find finding stuff there a bit of a challenge. I'm hopeless at searching. I'm hopeless at street navigations also, luckily the boss is always ready with instructions
Yes Lee Valley. I rememberd them after the first round of replies and yes they have some great stuff at great prices.
Again thank you for the thoughts.I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.
