    Default Indian Rosewood

First let my apologies for my disgraceful photography. (another skill I shall have to learn)
This was a commission for a box to keep the owners knitting safe the myriad of cats that they own. They are antique furniture collectors, have a passion for indian rosewood and the box had to "fit in" so to speak.
Where might I find some rare & exotic Indian Rosewood WWF of course, Chesand just happened to have some
The timber is absolutely stunning, Looks like a very deep purple unfinished and has a very unique odour and finish a rich brown with uncle Wongo's home brew. As I have said my photography does not do it justice . I still have quiet a bit left and will save it for something very special down the track.

The tray that you can just notice in the picture is camphor laurel unfinished to keep the bugs out.

It's a very simple box but gave me great pleasure in the making as I saw the rough sawn timber that I kicked my self for paying so much money for turn out so beautiful

    Very nicely done!

    Any reaction to the rosewood?

    Hi Howdya,

I like the box and the colour in particular.

In two of the photos there appears to be a small band of timber around the box about one third down from the top, yet in the third picture it is not there.
    Are my eyes playing tricks?

Could be your eyes Colin. They're probably better than mine.

In photos 001 and 004 I can see what looks to be a bead of timber the same colour as the rest of the box and it extends past each end, yet in the other photo, zilch!

Beats me, I will retire to the shed and play some nice soothing jazz instead.

I think your seeing the ends of the handles Colin.

If that is what I am seeing, then why cannot I see anything in the third photo?

This intrigues me, I know I can see something in two of the photos yet not in the third.....odd.

    Colin.
If you look closely at the third picture, you can see the handle on the right quite clearly. You are not able to see the handle on the left side in this picture because of the angle of the shot.
    Reality is no background music.

Just had a closer look and you can, in fact, see the handles on both sides of the box in the third picture.
    Reality is no background music.

Pleased to see the finished result - very nice.

I am sure that you have done the timber more justice than I could have
