Inspired by Blackwood Book Box
I have been thinking for awhile of finding someway to keep the ratty dog eared copies of Harry Potter that my my children have read and re-read uncountable times untill they are literally falling apart and have acquired much of the readers and their ways.
I think a book box, in the footsteps of the Blackwood Book Box in the earlier thread is in order. I'm sure mine will not be of so grand a wood, or fine a design, but I really like the idea of a way to put the collection together into a sturdy box, perhaps with pictures of the kids at this point in time and some short stories of thier own inspired by Harry Potter and gang. Their own kids, and grandkids should find it interesting... The books now are in such a state that I'm tempted to toss them, but the fact that the kids have been inspired to read them so many, many times makes them precious to me.
Just thought I'd share the thought, and didn't want to mix Harry Potter into that fine thread on the Blackwood Book Box.
Cheers.“When we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight nor for present use alone. Let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for; and let us think...that a time is to come when those (heirlooms) will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, ‘See! This our father did for us.’ “ --John Ruskin. Audels Carpenters and Builders Guide, 1923 Theo Audel & CO. New York.

Yes Go for it.
The original box also has an album on a shelf on top of the books.
