My first jewlery box
Hi all, here is my first attempt at making a wooden box. the main part of the box is sassafras and the top is spalted sassafras. i had a bit of trouble with the finish as half way through i decided that i wanted to change from a low sheen finish to a gloss finish. after sanding back and re coating it has come up pretty well for my first attempt.
any comments or tips for my next attempt would be appreciated.
sorry the photos aren't the best quality, my photography skills are a bit lacking
thanks for looking,

Looks great. I really like interesting grain patterns that can be made to wrap around the corners. Good job.

Very nice for your first attempt ( cannot give you any tips at this stage because I have only made a couple)
Please keep posting pics.

Nice job.
One criticism though is that I don't like the blue lining. Black would've been a better choice IMO.

Nice box Stevo.
How have you joined your mitres apart from glue and have you made any allowance for timber movement in the spalted sassafras panel.I've just become an optimist . Iv'e made a 25 year plan -oopps I've had a few birthdays - better make that a 20 year plan

Nice work, great looking box. I don't mind the blue lining actually. The only problem is if you give the box to someone, they may expect you to fill it with some jewels. Nicely done.
Reality is no background music.
Cheers John
