Mahogany tissue box
It's been a couple of years since I made any tissue boxes, but looking at the fine work of jow104 lately has spurred me on to try it once again. This one is mahogany with proud box joints in the style of Greene and Greene. The finish is oil and wax. My next one will feature ebony accents. Hope you all like it.

Cisco,
I like this, and I think I might adapt the proud box joints and try them out. They look great. This forum is such a source of inspiration and ideas.!
Cheers.

Very interesting. It is amazing how many creative ideas can be put into a tissue box. The opening on the two faces means that you can spot how many tissues are left, whereas the ones with an opening on the top only are less forthcoming about this. But I suppose the two-side opening means that you have to decant the tissues from the cardboard box that they come in. Between you and Jow104 you are stirring a lot of creative juices. In Oz, I can understand because, winter here everyone is sneezing and needs tissues. I thought it was summer in UK?

I'm in America, but I have hayfever. And live on a working farm.
The dropped front on this box is actually configured to the opening in the packaging for my particular brand of tissue. Puff's Plus. I simply took an empty box and cut the top and front off and used them as a template. The same idea could be applied to any brand of tissue. This wooden box merely drops right over the cardboard box. Here are a couple I made three years ago. I simply forgot about making these until Jow's boxes jogged my memory. Thanks for looking! When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

I'm glad your memory was jogged. Those two tissue boxes are also top rate.

Beautiful job as usual Al, Love the timber and style. Still waiting to see those other boxes you have to put hinges on.
