Never Again...
Was asked to make 4 presentation boxes via Tweed Valley Woodcrafters.
The brief was 4 boxes with internal dimensions of 280 x 180 x 180 mm, with flocking, I think there is crockery of some kind going in them.
Ordered some bloodwood and blackwood from Stan Ceglinksi and picked it up in November.
Stan gave me this huuuge slab of bloodwood, 3.8m x 500mm x 50mm, unfortunately it had a huge "v"shaped slit along its entire length so did not feel too bad about cutting it up into 1/2 inch boards, used blackwood for moulding, all made from 1x6" rough sawn boards.
Each box used nearly 2m of bloodwood that although pretty pale has very nice grain, and 2m of blackwood.
A member of the club cut out the presentee's names with a scroll saw, there was a mis-comunication with the flocking so an emergency order went out to (a company that shall remain nameless), that sent it a week later, even though was assured it would be overnight express posted, the timber wasn't sealed properly so first flocking was a disaster...
Anyway, I'm either never building another box or leaving it so late, undecided which just now.
Got great chatayence(sp?) from both woods, colour and grain change nicely on a walk around them, finished with satin wipe on poly.
Were meant to be delivered on Monday but the flocking disaster means they will be delivered Wed morning, hope they like them..

Should also mention the club members did a lot of sanding for me as well, did all the re-sawing with the clubs facilities and got a lot of encouragment and sandwiches from 2 members in particular..
