    Default Pocket boxes. An expose'

Aiming at making a bunch of boxes for a woodworking fair here in North Carolina in August, I came up with a design I like and made some jigs to help me make them faster.
What follows is an expose' on my jigs and stuff. Take from it what you like.
There is a photo of resawn Macasar Ebony (1st photo) for a 'his and her' set of boxes. ...an attempt at selling two boxes instead of just one!
I am calling them "pocket boxes" as they are slippery and would go into a pocket real well.
The heart of the the whole thing is to make a jig that cuts (on the bandsaw) a convex curve into the the sides and to cut a fence (for the router table) a concave fence to round over the edges to make it "slippery". These two are the same radius
In a previous thread, I have shown my invention of a miter cutting jig which cuts both the miter and the spline slot, so I won't redescribe it here. What is new, however, is a guide which guides the router to make four (count 'em!) spline slots at one time.
Also, I have found that shaping them by hand is very time consuming, so I made two jigs that guide them through the sander to take off most of the wood and then shape by hand to finish.
That's what I've been up to.
I'm both dyslexic and paranoid. I keep thinking I'm following someone.

They look great and the jigs are pure genius

Do you have a shot of a box with the lid open?

The jigs are nothing short of genius and I like the finish you've gotten on a couple of the boxes.

As has already been said - very clever. They have turned out great.

If you go back and read the first sentence, I think you'll find that he meant to say of not og.

It was a cold winter here in North Carolina so I had a lot og time to think things through.
After getting a rash last Spring sanding a lid of Cocobolo, I decided to find another way to shape the lids that didn't get me so much in contact with the wood for so long.
By having the distance from fulcrum to bandsaw blade for both the box side holder jig (for the band saw) and the fence for the router, I get the exact same radius. This led to a more stable router fence than I thought possible.
One could make a more simple 'holder' and send one piece through the band saw at a time - four at a time just looks cooler! - but is not ness.
Thanks for all og the replies - even if most of them were about my typos!
Ciscokid, the finsh is shellac right out of the can. By French polishing the box lightly, it tends to not glue itself shut.
Here's an unfinished, or partly finished open box and two other boxes made this winter (also not yet finshed - but close)

If I were to start early in the morning, I think I could have two boxes made ready for a finish by nightfall. It took a while to figure out and make the jigs though - you aren't looking at the very first ones I made (jigs), they burned hot though in the fireplace!
