    Default Spalted Maple Box

Falling behind on posting. Made this a few months ago while waiting for some details on my next commisioned one. Very simple design. I made it moslty so I could practice French polishing while sitting at the table with my kids while they were doing homework and piano practice.
    Description:
This box is made from a lightly spalted Maple with a Maple crotch top panel. The dimensions 8"x 5"x 3" tall. It is finished inside and out with a coat of drying oil, French polished with shelac, and then buffed with a coat of Canuba wax. Hinges are made by Brusso and are self stopping at 95*. The liner is a synthetic suede and will not tarnish silver.

Sighhhhhh. Guess I have been working to much OT. My brain must be fried. I do not remember posting that before. I am sooooo embarassed. Just had it in my mind I should post that sometime soon as I love pictures of others works. Even though I don't comment much (ten hours a day/6-7 days aweek in front of a computer kills the urge at home) the works of others here really inspires me.

Nice work, I like the top panel standing proud of the box, gives the plain shape that something extra, I'll have to store that in the brain (if I can find free space for it...)
