    Default Jewellery cabinet/box

First project out of the new shed (and the only one for the year to be able to enter in our show ) It might technically be called a cabinet but the main part was all made with box-making techniques so I'm showing it here anyway! Made this for our club challenge this year - "Make anything at all from a piece of roughsawn Bloodwood, 200x50x1000 or 100x100x1000". Allowed to use up to 10% of other material which covers the drawers (Camphor) and the mitre-keys and handles (Norfolk Island Hibiscus) . By the time I took one home, there was only the 100x100 chunks left but it didn't matter too much as the joins are almost invisible in this stuff anyway - just a bit more work!
Tried to make it look as if the box was suspended in mid air. The stand is joined with pairs of 4mm dominoes and heavy-duty epoxy - it won't be the joins that break if it ever gets dropped!
The necklace hanger that swings out was supposed to be made of brass but I ran out of time so I put this one together from some of the Bloodwood leftovers - only took about 15 minutes.
Judges liked it too! Scored the Club Challenge win plus Overall Champion .
When I get around to it , I'm going to add a page to the website showing how I made the frame. One day.
