Is it ok to ask for technical advice among ourselves on this thread? I'll open another thread otherwise.

OK, but it seems a bit of hijacking. My question is: is thinness judged more highly? Looking around the forum I got this impression. So, it is worth trying to resaw the board in 3 slices 6mm thick instead of 2 slices 9mm thick or not?

Don't forget that you will have to plane the surface to remove the bandsaw marks. It means you will lose at least another 2-3 mm. If your resewing technique is as good as mine you will lose more.
So I think 2 slices of 9mm is a bit more realistic.Visit my website at www.myFineWoodWork.com

Thanks guys. I have made a couple of test cuts in pine and, although the tracking seems good, maintaining the board perfectly vertical looks difficult. I was thinking of strapping the board to a wider block, has anybody tried this before? Or has better suggestions?
The question still stands, though: would judges rate thinness as desirable in itself?

Have to agree with Wongo but I'd say go with whatever you think the box design needs or in my case, demands
cheers

cut it to whatever is needed for your box. but you will only get 2 useable boards out of it and maby a thin veneer.

I have one small section with a nice bit of colour which should do for a lid, have hit my first snag and thats re-sawing the lid and base... my bandsaw is just short on clearance. I have a plan though. I am making a mock up in pine to see if it all works (have found one area to work on already). Well packed Funky and we will have to see if I can do justice to it.
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.
