Default 3D Carb I Tool router carver

I am looking at purchasing the starter kit for the 3D Carb I Tool router carver system as well as an extra template or two. Has anyone had any experiences with this system at all. I make Butcher Blocks and some other cabinet type stuff for friends and a small amount of the local community. I feel the system would give that bit more "stand out" at the markets and stuff.

    Cheers.

Yep, I've got one. Works pretty good. Simple to set up and repeatable results. One thing I did with mine was to seal the templates with shellac to help with avoiding wear on the templates and the inaccuracy that would result from this. I also photocopied the templates so I have an original. If need be I can get new templates laser cut. I don't use the system much though mainly on toy boxes. Certainly not on nice furniture.

    Cheers

I just find the designs a bit naff. Quite sterile looking I reckon. Different folks for different strokes.

Ditto-I didn't like the look of the templates either- so I stayed with freehand work instead, and eventually got a proper 3D cnc router.

With practise, it's not hard to do the same ins & outs, tapering nicely, as the template system-but to your own design- even in aussie hardwoods- and I did some in slate, too.

    Hi,
I am really amazed that these are not more popular. They don't even get recognised judging by how often I get asked 'how did you do that?" by woodies you would expect to know them.
As you will have gathered I own and use a few of the templates. I find them easy enough to use and provided you have chosen the right ones for your piece I would disagree with the above criticisms.
    Put me down as "recommending."
    Regards
    Hugh

I have one, and it works great. I have only used it on draw fronts, and they look good with the handle framed by the design.

First thing I did was get some 18mm MDF and made a copy. If tou put wear marks in it, you just make a new one.

Apparently they took on a new meaning to popular in the States once they found out about them.

They can add that subtle something to anotherwise bland even finely finished expanse of timber.

    Cheers
