ECT Hinge Mortising Jig
I just had an ECT hinge mortising jig arrive in the post on Friday and am eager to have a go at it. Has anyone here had any experience with one of these?
Thanks,
Craig

Tried it out...
I'll try to post some pictures up of the jig in action and the results.
I installed a number of doors using the jig to rout mortises for 85mm long x 25 mm wide hinges and some Lane locks.
I have a few notes:
The instructions are a little on the light side, and I found no clear reference on to how to change the width of the mortise, other than a incidental reference to changing the guide in the hinge mortising video. I really recommend downloading the videos before using the jig
The videos are a little hokey, and low resolution, but worth the time if you are looking at buying the jig.
I found that the jig is made of a high quality plastic, but the guide rail needs a little excess flashing to be removed - just a small casting imperfection, easily rectified with a stanley knife.
I think the jig would benefit from having a scale included for setting length and width. Length would be easy to include, but depth would be a bit trickier.
The service from ECT was excellent with the jig arriving in record time, as promised I am really impressed with the jig and the quality of service.
I love that this is an Australian product, and would love to see ECT do a deal with Carb-I-Tool to provide a couple of useful bits for this jig as part of the kit, as Mr Gifkins has done for his fine products.

ECT Jig Update
Here we go, as promised a couple of pictures of the ECT Jig in action.
I found the jig to be useful and fairly easy to set up, but the use of only a single rail to keep the router bit on track detracted from the accuracy of the jig in jobs such as making hinge mortises.
