Default Coating for Western Red Cedar doors

Hi, this is my first post so hello to all. I have installed WRC doors in an external situation and wish to treat them to prevent water and sun damage. They will be subjected to significant western sun and are outside except for eave over.

I understand there are a variety of good quality clear finishes available including marine quality varnish but the downside is the sun will penetrate and degrade the wood beneath.

The doors look good and I do not want to paint them but may have to if suitable alternative is not found.

Would anyone recommend oiling as alternative & if so what type & regularity?

    Thanks.

OK, Ive read the relevant threads and there is heaps of useful suggestions. Also, I contacted feast watson (orica) and discussed with a bloke who suggested their "weatherproof" product, with 4 or 5 coats (at least 12 hours between) and reapply every 18 months to two years.

Any comments from members on experience with weatherproof on WRC would be appreciated.

    Thanks

My comments as in the other posts are either wattyl exterior, or sickens cetrol with the filter 7 , have used both with excellent results
