Grease out of timber
This is officially a crossposting to this thread in the boat building section of the same name (which is why this thread is locked - so we keep all the discussion in one place ). I've added a note here in case someone who normally doesn't get into the boat section has some thoughts.
Basically, greasy paw prints on raw timber How do I get them out?

(for the non-boaties, Sixpence is the boat in my avatar and the gunwales are those strips of wood that run along the top of the boat's sides )
