Default Shellac looks milky when wet...??

    Hi

I have been applying U Beaut hard shellac over a base coat of dewaxed white shellac.

All was going well until I decided to sand bank some obvious drips.

I used 400 grit normal paper 400 & 600 wet & dry (as dry no water) and some 0000 steel wool.

When I added further apllications of hard shellac it was milky over the sanded areas. I thought I was up for a complete 're-do' and temporarily 'left the area' in dismay.

However when I returned the shellac had dried clear. A subsequent application produced milkiness when wet, and dried clear.

I guess there are two questions:

    1. What's going on? (or why is this happening?)
    2. Is it a problem? (Can I progress or do I re-do the lot from square one?)

Thanks for any help with this.

as far as i know it's just moisture that causes it, it happens when brushing because it's going on thicker, moisture gets traped but evaporates as the shellac dries, leaving a clear finish...i don't brush shellac anymore as i found it going on to thick so i just wipe on very thin, building it up quite quickly...but continue brushing if it works for you and don't worry about the cloudyness...
    Hurry, slowly
