Default wax finish on top of varnish

    Hi Guys
We inherited an old garden seat with the house, steel frame rusted and wooden slats rotted.
I have replaced all the wood with recycled hardwood and have hammertone painted the steel frame.
The wood has had 3 coats of varnish applied and was considering wether to apply a coat of sponsors traditional wax on top of the varnish?
This seat will be left outside in the weather
If i did wax it would i rub it in with 0000 steel wool or just use a cloth or not bother with the waxing at all
    thanks
    greg

    Hi Farm Boy,

If you want further protection over the varnish, maybe some form of Polyurethane would be good. I use Wipe On Poly on timber which has high traffic or work and it works well. Also use this combo to polish my head, lasts for months

For lacquering outdoor timber, I reckon you can't go past Spar Varnish. It is designed for it, after all...
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.
