How about red camelion? Still expensive, but im guessing it dries faster
What about that thermal paint? I know, thats expensive too, but its pretty cool stuff to play with.

    Default Bits into pieces

Ok so heres (partly) what ive been up to lately.
I 've almost finished the pearling on the face and am having lewid thoughts about pearling a little on the back too. That is if i have time to spare.

So, apart from the pearling ive been working on the neck,,, but thats a suprise, pics later
For now you can check out what ive been up with the bridge.

And here is what I meant about doing something with pearl on the back.
I was thinking about doing a few strips along the joins. Theyt are neat, but just look like they would be better if they had pearl along them

Anyway thats how i justify my time in the shed so far.

    pearls for girls

    show us the neck biatch!

bridge looks interesting.... gluing it down scares me though.....

how are you anchoring the strings?
if you use ferrules they will have to be pretty far back to clear the back of the bridge plate....

if you do it with a tail piece comming from the strap button then it will be covering the stripes in the body....

bit of a lose/lose situation lol

thanks for the offer of sending it to me to see how well it does at metal
dont expect it back in one piece though

    LOL

asking me for money after i spent 450 at stew mac???

my poor wallet, he feels so empty, so depressed, like me

    lol

i gotta find a part time job, or im out on my ass and single.... *sigh*

that ring was meant to be a turning point in my life....
    turned the wrong way

    hahaha

anyways back to the build lol...

why dont you just stain it?
looks like a fairly decent bit of timber.....
stain is cheaper than paint and easier.... just stain and do a couple of coats of poly...

    i vote for a red stain, or a purple/plum

That's 2 votes for Purple Floody ... or is it King Petrucci?

Can't say that Dream Theatre inspired me greatly ... some glimpses of good guitar that aren't matched by the vocalist or lyrics .

Ya really have to see them live dad. They really are unbelievable!! James has a brilliant voice but i understand hes not everyones cup of tea...
Purple and red stains are both options..Do you think it will still look metal??
Anyway, i routed the trussrod slot today. It seemed to work and go well lol..
I was going to glue to fb on but i realised i havent cut it to length yet and the nut part isnt cut out properly..I have no idea how to do this so i need help... time for pics.

You can see in the 2nd pic where they have cut slots for the nut but how do i take the rest of material out?? Is there an easy way or should i get my dad to mill it out? I dont really want to cos it might take a while...(like my template!!!)

It's not something I've had to do yet.

Is the fretboard radiused? If not, do they make a router bit that small?? Or perhaps file it??

    Andy B?? Others??

    purple is sick....

    so is black semi transperant...

this is a very earlyy conklin guitar i believe...... pretty sure thats poly over a red stain

as for the nut.... they do it like that so you can have the choice of a strat type nut or a gibson type....
just cut it off at the line CAREFULLY lol

    A sharp 3mm chisel
Rosewood might seem like a hardwood but its really easy to work with if you use sharp tools
After that use a piece of 3mm aluminium with sandpaper folded over it. The main thing is to stay the hell away from the slot near the first fret.
