I couldn't work all that pdf stuff out you did Martin, so I pasted my receipt details in here as best I knew how.

Don't care about the bet at all, other than the fact this a much more than worthy cause and choose to do my bit as well.

Any excuse to give back for the rebuild is a good one !!!

Once again, if you have walked in you would then need to carry everything back out by hand billet by billet. I reckon that could get old 'really' quick. You would soon to find ways to lighten the load where you could.

Point taken and well demonstated by Bob's photos. Hard work but well worth it for the quality of this timber.

    Default Progress so far

After bandsawing a bit of the log into 6mm slices 500mm wide I racked them out with stickers 200mm apart. I rotated the stickers (spacers) every 3 weeks. The slices stayed straight. To check and see if I was on the right track I put one slice through the sander. The saw marks were all gone at 3.8mm. I put it through a couple more times finishing at 2.8mm. I then left it unsupported in the shed for 5 days and it hasn't warped at all.

    Attached are a few pics.

Now to saw up the rest of the flitches.

A very satisfying result and thanks again for the advice.

    cheers
    Steve

Wow that stuff is amazing, if you are ever going to sell pieces big enough for electric bodies (450x200x40 is what I'm after) or necks (700x75x40) then I will drive straight up to Dorrigo and hand over the cash.
